  • NExT Exam Regulations: The NMC has notified regulations for the National Exit Test (NExT), which is set to significantly change medical education in India. The NExT will serve both as a licentiate exam to certify the eligibility of medical graduates to practice medicine in India and as an entrance test for postgraduate medical education. This computer-based exam will feature high-quality multiple-choice questions designed to evaluate higher domains of knowledge.

  • International Practice Opportunities for Indian Graduates: Indian medical graduates have gained a significant boost as the NMC received World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) recognition. This recognition enables them to practice or pursue post-graduation in several countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. All existing medical colleges in India are now accredited by WFME, enhancing the global standing of Indian medical education​.

  • Internship Opportunities for Foreign Medical Graduates: The NMC has issued a directive allowing foreign medical graduates to complete their internships in India if they were unable to complete them in their home countries due to uncontrollable circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic​.
